Examples Of Opening Titles
In Se7en, the OTS is made up of symbolic imagery, which the opening titles are incorporated into, becoming part of these visuals. Some of the titles are overlaid with footage, while others are on black. The style of the words is intentionally shaky and handwritten, to add to the visuals.
In Back To The Future, the titles are overlaid onto the footage, however they are just clearly seen without adding to the visual aesthetic. However, they are all seen before any action is seen, and add to the build up to the start of the film.
In Zombieland, many of the titles are incorporated into the background, acting as part of the scene that can be affected by the characters, for example running in front of words and the title being seen to break as a window is smashed. We borrowed some of this style in the placement of our own titles, deliberately mapping them along the length of the door and to appear on top of the record player.
