British Board of Film Classification
The BBFC is a regulator of film and video that provides age ratings such as 12, 15 and 18. They make the decision on what age rating a game/series or film is and therefore have to be considered when making our OTS. They have the power to cut or reject certain media.
The preferable age rating for a movie is 15 as it is high enough for gore, swearing and violence but low enough to appeal to a larger range of audiences. Despite this, our film will be given an 18 rating as there will be a substantial amount of gore (being about cannibals).
The 12 rating that could be given to a piece of media is also not suitable for our film as of the amount of gore that will be involved is not suitable for that age range. Even though the film will be an 18 we think that it will be successful enough that it won't matter that the audience is more limited age wise.
Below is an image of the 18 rating and what defines it/what is acceptable through it.
